UI Scaling & Widescreen support#576

Having the ability to scale the UI, from say 50%-150% would be amazing. This would be supporting not only differing resolutions, but helpful for those with bad (or amazing) eyesight.

Sitting far away on a couch playing on a TV? Scale that baby up.
Sitting 2 feet from a 50” 4k monitor? Scale that baby down.

Merged 3840x1080 not working properly#690

Also adding to this feedback, since the topic “limited support for ultra-wide-screen” has been merged with this one, while playing on Ultrawide the field of view gets smaller, limiting the view of both upper and lower areas of your screen (which results on enemies attacking you from areas that you can’t see, while players with 16:9 aspect ratios don’t have this problem).
Here’s two comparison screenshots:

Hope this gets looked into! Thank you!

With the new patch I think the scale is so small now, and it’s difficult to read the text, specially if we don’t play so close to the monitor (with a gamepad, for example). If it’s planned to add a setting so we can change it as we like, it would be nice.

Please make game more zoomed out for 21:9 on 2560x1080

Developers will enable Black Bars (echtra_bean said on discord). PLEASE make this optional as it will look worse then now. Long term goal shouldn be more FOV. Black bars are not the solution to this.

Agreed, the FOV is woefully small and unpleasant to play on. Please increase it!

3440x1440 its too close plss fix it, now it’s too frustrating to play from such a close view……..when you enter the fort the distance is perfect, it should be the same in the world too for those who use this resolution plsssssssssssssssss

Seems that mmo games do not support 2k and more, it would give them an advantage over FullHD screen players. Not the case with Torchlight 1 and 2 beceause they are single players games and you can play them in windows and linux. They should announce that the Torchlight 3 only works optimal on FullHD monitors.

But now the disadvantage is for those who use 21: 9 which is very penalized by a much closer view, when placed in a window with a resolution of 16: 9 it looks much more pleasant.
I sincerely hope they fix it as soon as possible, in this state for those who use 21: 9 is definitely frustrating to play.

This is PC. Just give us a fov option in the menu. Easy, simple, it will blanket tackle all of the different resoloutions, and it shouldn’t take you much time or development resources.

By default, It’s actually zoomed in so much on 32:9 that it removes functionality. For example, in character select you can’t pick the owl, and you can’t see your characters head when choosing character appearance. For ranged characters such as the sharpshooter your attacks such as tight grouping extend far beyond the screen space. Most of the time, you’re forced to shoot enemies you can’t see offscreen.

Playing on 32:9 also has the slowly scrolling background graphic in the zone loading screens cutoff on the right side. Extremely minor and unimportant to the game, but just thought I’d also mention it.

I’m currently running the unreal console unlocker to get access to the FOV manually. For my 32:9 monitor I find fov 70-75 makes it look reasonable and playable. Though, It’s still is not the optimal solution. This is because the game often forces the FOV back on zone change. So I have to constantly hit the tilde key and resend the command.

Lastly, of course the most professional fix will be to actually get your hands on ( borrow or use community sourced testers? ) some ultrawide monitors to be able to test and set the default behaviors for different resolutions. Combined with an option or chat command for setting fov, That will give ultrawide people the best gaming experience.
