This is PC. Just give us a fov option in the menu. Easy, simple, it will blanket tackle all of the different resoloutions, and it shouldn’t take you much time or development resources.
By default, It’s actually zoomed in so much on 32:9 that it removes functionality. For example, in character select you can’t pick the owl, and you can’t see your characters head when choosing character appearance. For ranged characters such as the sharpshooter your attacks such as tight grouping extend far beyond the screen space. Most of the time, you’re forced to shoot enemies you can’t see offscreen.
Playing on 32:9 also has the slowly scrolling background graphic in the zone loading screens cutoff on the right side. Extremely minor and unimportant to the game, but just thought I’d also mention it.
I’m currently running the unreal console unlocker to get access to the FOV manually. For my 32:9 monitor I find fov 70-75 makes it look reasonable and playable. Though, It’s still is not the optimal solution. This is because the game often forces the FOV back on zone change. So I have to constantly hit the tilde key and resend the command.
Lastly, of course the most professional fix will be to actually get your hands on ( borrow or use community sourced testers? ) some ultrawide monitors to be able to test and set the default behaviors for different resolutions. Combined with an option or chat command for setting fov, That will give ultrawide people the best gaming experience.
